LINCOLN, Nebraska — October 2, 2018

Sandhills Publishing, the Nebraska-based trade publisher and tech company behind Auction Flex, HiBid.com, AuctionTime.com, BidCaller, and Equipmentfacts, will host a two-day auctioneer forum October 11th and 12th at its global headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska. The event will present attendees with industry insights about a number of online and live auction platforms, auction management solutions, online bidder software, and other resources that simplify auction management, advertising, bidding, and auctions in general.

The auctioneer forum will begin with a meet-and-greet reception on Thursday October 11th. Friday’s events will include seminars, roundtable discussions, and presentations on best practices for successful auctions. Sessions will include discussions about online-only auctions, and technology that facilitates auction management, online bidding for live auctions, asset valuations, auction setup, invoicing, and more. The forum will also include insights into financing, shipping, insurance, escrow, and other buyer services that facilitate sales as well as payment processing and other back-end solutions that streamline transactions and facilitate after-sale administration tasks.

The forum’s afternoon session will address the impact of South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., and provide insights into what auctioneers need to know about economic nexus laws pertaining to the obligation to collect and remit sales tax from customers. Guest speaker Roberta L. Christensen from the law firm of Koley Jessen will address the short- and long-term implications for the ruling. Christensen advises clients on the full spectrum of sales and use tax consulting, planning, compliance, dispute resolution, and policy matters, with a focus on multistate sales and use tax nexus issues. She has advised companies on structuring corporate reorganizations to minimize the potential for nexus, and provides ongoing guidance with respect to transactions that might trigger nexus. She also has extensive experience in appealing and resolving sales and use tax assessments issued by state departments of revenue and in advising clients during the audit process.

Nearly 100 auctioneers have already registered to attend the forum. For more information or to register for this event, please contact your AuctionTime.com or Auction Flex sales representative, or call (800) 334-7443.
