ACCOUNTING INTERN

The Accounting Intern will be responsible for performing basic accounting functions coordinated with assigned projects as needed by the Accounting Manager. The Intern will be exposed to a very diverse and dynamic company and will be encouraged to help define better ways of maintaining and distributing accounting information. Some specific tasks might include general ledger reconciliation, fixed asset labeling, forecasting and budget analysis. The Accounting Intern may also assist in tracking and conducting independent internal audits on Sandhills Publishing’s financial and accounting areas. Assume other duties as assigned. AG SALES INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Intern’s primary objective will be to learn all aspects of the department and the publications we serve. The Intern will be working in a territory contacting Ag equipment dealers to list their equipment on our website. This process will entail educating the dealers on our websites and on how to enter their own information along with also entering their listings for them. Researching Ag equipment and the proper way to list the information on our site will be done in addition to providing feedback from the industry. A heavy focus on customer service, sales, and a variety of tasks that assist in the implementation of marketing and sales strategies are of equal importance and are additional responsibilities of the Intern.

COPYWRITER INTERN

The Copywriter Intern writes articles, copy edits and fact-checks materials for Sandhills Publishing’s family of publications. Intern writing assignments begin with shorter, simpler topics, and advance to more demanding material. The Intern may have the opportunity to write feature articles or cover stories for the publication, depending on ability and progress. Copywriter Interns must be able to conduct telephone interviews and research on a variety of subjects. Must be resourceful and meticulous in their work. Assume other duties as assigned. COPYWRITER INTERN - CAFE TECUMSEH

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Copywriter Intern will write, copy edit, research and conduct interviews for features, how-to, and background articles for the Cafe Tecumseh and Certified Piedmontese publications. The writing assignments will be focused and related to food, culinary experiences, and the lifestyle associated with food and drink. Intern writing assignments begin with shorter, simpler topics, and advance to more demanding material. The intern will also help produce corporate marketing material for the Company. Copywriter Interns must be able to demonstrate an ability to write and research coherent and cohesive articles. Must be resourceful and meticulous in their work. Assume other duties as assigned.

DATABASE INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The role of the Database Intern is to help develop and maintain Microsoft SQL databases, SQL Server2000 and SQL Server2010. Some specific tasks include monitoring and setting up replication jobs between databases located on geographically disperse campuses, writing and troubleshooting database scripts, and overall general database management. The Intern will also help meet the programming needs at Sandhills Publishing. This responsibility will be met through the maintenance of current systems and development of new systems. GRAPHIC WEB DESIGN INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Graphic Web Design Intern is responsible for creating and updating visually appealing web sites and logos for Sandhills publications and their customers. The Intern will use programs such as PhotoShop, and InDesign to work with existing images or to create original images and layouts as needed. Experience with HTML is a plus. The Intern shares the responsibility of producing these materials within set deadlines. A high standard of quality and ability to think creatively are a must. Assume other duties as assigned.

HUMAN RESOURCE INTERN

The Human Resource Intern will gain experience in the day-to-day functions of Human Resource Consulting and will also have the opportunity to work on special projects with Department Managers. The Intern will be exposed to a very diverse and dynamic company and will be encouraged to help define better ways of maintaining and distributing human resource information. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS INTERN (BRAZIL)

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The International Business Intern (Brazil) will gain experience in various business functions related to the expansion of our MarketBook publication in Brazil. The Intern will be exposed to a very diverse and dynamic company and be responsible for tasks related to areas of business such as marketing, sales, human resources, accounting and/or project management. It will be the Intern’s objective to analyze the Brazilian market to determine an effective entry strategy into the construction, agricultural and hauling industries which we serve. A heavy focus on customer service and a variety of tasks that assist in the implementation of marketing and sales strategies are of equal importance and are additional responsibilities of the Intern. This position will have the potential to travel abroad to meet with current and potential customers in Brazil. A high level of proficiency in the Portuguese language is required; knowledge of other Latin American languages beneficial. Experience traveling in Brazil required, and other Latin American countries beneficial. The Intern must work as a team to help assure the success of the MarketBook publication. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS INTERN (LATIN AMERICA)

The International Business Intern (Latin America) will gain experience in various business functions related to the expansion of our MarketBook publication in Latin America. The Intern will be exposed to a very diverse and dynamic company and be responsible for tasks related to areas of business such as marketing, sales, human resources, accounting and/or project management. It will be the Intern’s objective to analyze the Latin American market to determine an effective entry strategy into the construction, agricultural and hauling industries which we serve. A heavy focus on customer service and a variety of tasks that assist in the implementation of marketing and sales strategies are of equal importance and are additional responsibilities of the Intern. This position will have the potential to travel abroad to meet with current and potential customers in Latin America. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS INTERN (QUEBEC, CANADA)

The International Business Intern (Quebec, Canada) position is customer contact intensive and includes specific tasks related to managing and gathering information from customers in Quebec, Canada (primarily French speaking). In the process of handling these responsibilities, it will be the Intern’s objective to build solid relationships with members of the industries we serve located in various French speaking territories such as Quebec, Canada. A heavy focus on customer service and a variety of tasks that assist in the implementation of marketing and sales strategies are of equal importance and are additional responsibilities of the Intern. Proficiency in the French language would be beneficial for this position. The Intern must work as a team to help assure the success of the publication(s) internationally. IT SUPPORT INTERN

The role of the IT Support Intern is to help support and maintain in-house work stations, mobile devices, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software to ensure optimal workstation performance for end users. This position will also be responsible for providing over the phone technical support for Sandhills Publishing’s consumer computer magazines. This will include answering any technical questions, either by phone or via email, related to PC hardware and software. They will work closely with a Web site design team to help them troubleshoot dealer specific websites. They will be involved with daily backup and restore operations. Assume other duties as assigned. MAINTENANCE INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Maintenance Intern is responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Sandhills Publishing facilities. Duties include performing minor repairs to furniture and equipment, moving furniture and equipment, ensuring maintenance schedules are followed, and monitoring mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems. The types of equipment to be maintained include a geothermal heat pump system, chiller with water cooling tower, roof top air handling units, exhaust fans, and boilers. Seasonal duties include snow removal and grounds keeping responsibilities. This includes lawn mower, tractor, snow blower and power tool operation. The Maintenance Intern will also work with outside contractors for inspections and large projects. Responding in a prompt, professional manner to employee needs and concerns is an important aspect of this position. Assume other duties as assigned.

MARKETING INTERN

The Marketing Intern’s primary objective will be to learn all aspects of the department and the publications we serve. The Intern position is data intensive and includes such specific tasks as gathering and inputting information, along with a heavy focus on customer service and a variety of tasks that assist in the implementation of circulation strategies are of equal importance and are additional responsibilities of the Intern. PRINTING MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Printing Mechanical Intern will have a hands-on opportunity to learn all aspects of the Production Department. This includes exposure to press, bindery, and plate output systems as well as maintenance of equipment. Specific duties may include shadowing press and bindery technicians in troubleshooting mechanical problems, as well as electronic troubleshooting including Simens drives and PLC components. The intern will perform the day to day tasks of printing and binding of the publications as well as the scheduled maintenance of the equipment. Responsibilities will vary day to day. SALES INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The goal of the sales internship will be for the intern to assist in obtaining listings and advertisements from our customers for the publication the intern is assigned as well as other publications produced by Sandhills Publishing. The intern will learn about the company products and business objectives as well as shadow other members of the department to gain exposure to sales strategies. The Intern will also become responsible for servicing customers including acquiring and servicing new and existing accounts. The intern will learn and apply different sales techniques as well as develop advertisements for the customer. Researching prospective advertisers, placing sales orders and maintaining sales records will be part of the internship. Assume other duties as assigned.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

The Software Development Intern helps meet the programming needs at Sandhills Publishing. This responsibility will be met through the maintenance of current systems and development of new systems. Some specific tasks include using Visual Basic.NET, ASP.NET, and latest version of Microsoft SQL Server. The Intern also shares in the responsibility and accountability for all facets of computerization within their assigned area. Assume other duties as assigned.

SYSTEMS NETWORK INTERN

The Systems Network Intern will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of computer systems and networks at Sandhills Publishing. They will assist in the setting up and troubleshooting of workstations. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software to ensure optimal workstation performance. The Systems Administration Intern will also be responsible for hosted web site maintenance and operations. They will work closely with a Web site design team to help them troubleshoot dealer specific web sites. They will be involved with daily backup and restore operations. WEBSITE MONITOR

The Website Monitor will be responsible for overseeing Sandhills Publishing’s web sites on weekends, to ensure that they are up and running properly. This includes checking sites every 15 minutes and taking the appropriate action if a problem should occur. This may include rebooting the web server, troubleshooting, or notifying someone that the web server is not responding. Assume other duties as assigned.This position is not currently available.

WRITER REPRESENTATIVE INTERN

Position Available In: Lincoln, Nebraska

Writer Representative Intern’s primary objective is to learn all aspects of the family of Sandhills Publishing computer magazines (Processor®, PC Today®, Smart Computing®, First Glimpse®). The Intern will focus on the generation of new advertisers for all computer publications by contacting technology industries that may fit the various publications to inquire about advertising in our publications. It will be the responsibility of the Intern to create solid relationships with members of the industries we serve. Interns will also have the opportunity to write articles including product reviews, tutorials, and general features. Writer Representative Interns must be able to work independently and adhere to deadlines. Assume other duties as assigned.
