Job Description
Working in a newly constructed, Gold LEED Certified, state of the art Data Center in Lincoln, NE, the role of the Database Developer is to develop and maintain Microsoft SQL databases, SQL Server 2008 and later versions. Specific tasks include schema design, monitoring and setting up replication jobs between databases located on geographically disperse campuses, developing and analyzing stored procedures, functions, triggers and views, and overall general database management. The Database Developer will also help meet the application development needs at Sandhills Publishing. This responsibility will be met through the maintenance of current systems and development of new systems. Assume other duties as assigned.
The Software Developer is responsible for any of the following tasks: software development, documentation, programming, training and troubleshooting of assigned software development projects at Sandhills Publishing. This responsibility requires a thorough understanding of application development, training end users, and adapting existing applications to operate more efficiently. The Software Developer uses ASP.NET, Visual Basic.NET, and .NET Web Services to build dynamic, data-driven Web applications. These systems heavily utilize the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server as the primary data store with SQL replication used for redundancy and failover. Many projects employ Microsoft Silverlight and jQuery technologies to develop robust and highly interactive Web-based user interfaces. Projects may include development of features for our public-facing Web sites, building services we host for customers, or solutions that drive the internal software requirements for Sandhills Publishing.
